I have it and all I have to say is they fucked up the button scripting (can't add AS to ANY symbol directly) and it just makes me mad all the time!!
Yeah, so if I'll add buttons, I'll always have Pro 8 or Behaviors :P
Cuestaluis is right. They messed up the AS scripting so that symbols are unable to get direct action script. BUT I later found out that that it only if you click to have your project as an AS3 project. Clicking to start your new file as an AS2 project is how you keep it "normal".
Well, then it's no problem!

In Flash 8 have you ever put a sound on the main timeline, like a punch effect or something, pressed ctrl-enter and had it play the sound 10 seconds earlier than it was supposed to?

No reason not to buy it, since it keeps the same functions as Flash 8, with a little extra. Who knows, you might find the new additions useful somewhere in the future. I haven't used any of the new features yet (I dislike AS3) but it's good to know that they're there. That said, the differences between Flash 8 and CS3 are minor.

My advice would be - NO!
It's a waste of money. Flash 8 is perfectly fine (look where Adam Phillips pushed it, if you do half of his work,that's already a masterpiece). Plus I heard from a reliable source that it's even more irritating and that it'll drive you crazy much sooner than flash 8,and that it sucks. ...
But hey

there is not to much difference with the CS3 version, only the AS3.0 codes
